Crested and distributed by The Novel Grounds bookstore, The Trope Guide was inspired by the nostalgic excitement of the Scholastic book flyers, and is designed to be an adult romance version of something we all loved as children. It is a substantial 60+ page guide, printed on newsprint paper, that offers a deep dive into the world of romance literature.

The guide is full to the brim with romance books, featuring 700+ romance novels from over 400 authors, all categorized on trope themed pages, labeled with their micro-tropes—making it easier than ever for readers to find their next favorite book. Each page is titled with the same labels that Novel Grounds uses on the shelves at their bookstore. From ‘Small Town Spice’, to ‘But Do They Have Wings’, the page organization is an experience in and of itself. A core focus of the publication is diversity, with dedicated pages highlighting the works of BIPOC authors and LGBTQIA+ books. Each book has icons indicating all different classifications from diversity, to reading POV, to audio, to help you find everything you look for in a book.
